You must read book 1 to understand not only the story continuation, but the character dynamics. I loved the first book, and Return to Poughkeepsie did not disappoint in the story telling. Then he picks himself back up and hardens himself once again to get the job done.

He’s a tough man most of the time, but you mess with his brothers or Eve, and they are the crack in his armor. His mouth says things you can only laugh or cringe at, but I love how his character is written. Once again, there is humor and suspense, raw and dirty issues that has Beckett at the center.
